Let us send our leaders off to war
And let them take an army of relatives
An army of brothers and sisters and daughters and sons
And let us watch them watch the consequences of their decisions
as they wade forward of their own volition.
And when one leader stand upon the field of slaughter
alone. Shriven of friends and enemies alike.
When any body is just a body
no matter how familiar or foreign or small.
A life denied.
Perhaps that leader will have the wisdom to lead us in times of war
... towards peace.
